    George F. Valassis & Company is founded in a suburb of Detroit to be a sales agent for printing companies. The company will eventually grow to control nearly half the free-standing insert market.

    Purchase of our first printing press for Delta Printing Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of George F. Valassis & Co.

    Our first, revolutionary co-op Free-Standing Insert
    (FSI) is introduced.

    Delta Printing Corporation and Valassis & Company merge.

    A second printing facility, TC Lane Publishing Company and now known as the Hogg Printing Division, is added in Durham, North Carolina.

    Rapid expansion continues with the addition of a third printing facility in Wichita, Kansas.

    Have You Seen Me®, our national missing child program, is founded in partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the U.S. Postal Service.

    By purchasing Newspaper Co-op Couponing (NCC) with Run of Press (ROP) capabilities, Valassis becomes the only company to provide both color inserts and on-page newspaper couponing.

    Valassis Impact Promotions (VIP) is formed to produce custom print promotion pieces featuring one company. Now known as Inserts in our Neighborhood Targeted business.

    We go public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as Valassis Communications, Inc. (VCI), issuing 22.1 million shares at $17 per share. CPH retains 49 percent of the shares. At the time, it was one of the largest IPOs in the history of the NYSE.

    First time VCI is named as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work for in America" by the concept originators, Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz.

    VCI expands into Canada with the acquisition of Canadian marketing company McIntyre & Dodd.

    VCI becomes fully independent after CPH divests its interest in Valassis and completes a successful secondary offering at $24 per share.
